Habitat Review Board

The HRB, a committee of the POA consisting of five property owners elected by the SIPOA Board of Directors, was established to preserve the natural beauty of Spring Island and its setting, to maintain Spring Island as a pleasant and desirable environment, to establish and preserve a harmonious design for the community, and to protect and promote the value of property on Spring Island.

The Spring Island Trust Landscape Ecologist serves as one of the consultants to the committee, providing technical expertise regarding proposed landscaping.

The responsibilities of the HRB are to:

  • Review and approve architectural and landscape plans in accordance with the Spring Island Habitat Review Guidelines and the Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions for Spring Island
  • Suggest and implement additions and revisions to guidelines as appropriate
  • Hold monthly HRB meetings and be available for staff approvals between meetings

  • Communicate to the Spring Island community on items of interest concerning homes and homesites on the island

The mission of the Spring Island Trust is to preserve and protect Spring Island’s environment and cultural history, providing education, expertise, and leadership in the conservation of natural resources throughout the Lowcountry.
